Working on the Dell with the cryptovirus
Here back on the Dell with the cryptovirus. In the previous videos you saw that we were going to the screen where it went to the decrypt service. It asked us to upload a file and to wait 24 hours so that’s what we did. Now we are getting what we typically see for this which tells us pay $500. It has a date of 07/10/15 maybe they are using an inverted date of the 7th of October 15th. Assuming they are using a Latin format for date.
So that’s the deal. I’m going to go through and do a decrypt 1 file for free. Try that just to make sure there is something going on over there. I mean this is a full 100% risk. This client really needs his stuff so he’s willing to invest the $500 on the flip of a coin. It is to the benefit of these hackers to comply and decrypt because they want the word out to be that if you do pay you will get your stuff, if they get…you know if the rumour mill or the feedback online all that kind of stuff is that they paid and nobody gets it back then basically it ruins their business.
Should you comply?
Now, the other side of the coin is most people in the industry say don’t comply because what do we do if we comply then we are feeding this business. It becomes better for people to basically continue this blackmail you know ransom business. So it depends on which side of the fence you are at as to whether you are going to go for it or not we are going to continue here. Now, what I see here it’s only bitcoin in the past I had seen messages where there was like this money gram thing. So I am going to do the decrypt 1 file for free and if that works then I’m heading out to one of these sites and I going to buy me some bitcoin. So let’s see what happens I’ll keep you posted, see you in a bit.
