What brand of computer should I get?

Today’s question is – what brand computer should I be looking for? And well that is a valid question, it’s something that I personally don’t put a whole lot of weight on. I want to look at other things first, I want to look at processor and features basically performance and then once I got the performance down if I have two or three computers that are comparable. Say in performance, price and look and feel then I would maybe have a preference on the brand.

Now, on PCs I mean you’ve got all kinds of brands so that’s a little bit tougher if you are getting an Apple or a Mac what have you that’s pretty simple, that’s one manufacturer so this is going to pretty much exclude that. Most computers or pretty much all the computers the components inside is not really made by the manufacturers the hard drive is Washington you know Seagate, the LCD was made by someone else.

Hardware outweighs brand

It could LG, it could be Samsung other RAM several companies making RAM. So when you see the branding on there the parts inside are not really made by them so that’s why I feel that the brand is not really such a strong I think deciding factor in that purchase. I would first look at you know my processor, my performance and then of if I had 3 or 4 computers or 5 computers with the same performance, same kind of look and feel and within the price range then I would look at the brands.

Since I did have the question I wanted to basically answer the question by giving you a couple brands again all things being equal I like Dell, I like Asus. Asus actually makes motherboards they were very good in the manufacturing, very well respected in that area. Also Toshiba, while they do make entry level and high end I like Toshibas I don’t see a lot of them coming out for repairs.

If we had to pick a brand…

That would be if I had to nail it down to the top three that is where I would kind of leave it. I don’t want this to be misinterpreted as Sony is a bad computer or Acer is terrible or Gateway is terrible. But again if you are going to pick a top three then I mean you got to leave somebody out, so that’s my top three picks Dell, Toshiba, Asus as far as making a choice again all things being equal. And in some of the other follow up videos we actually break down what is the single most important factor in making a purchase or picking the right computer.
