Working on a laptop power issue

Hey guys, welcome back to what’s going on at PC911. We’ve got a Dell here that we are doing a little operation on. This unit is having issues with the power jack; let me show you that. You got to be careful with these power jacks because they break easily. So as you can see in there if you are familiar with Dell. it’s like a plastic and then the round piece in the center is not there; the device is broken. While it seems like a simple change of a power jack. The way that this machine was designed, the technician is going to have to disassemble the device completely.

We got to take the back cover of. Taking the hard drive and batteries out and if we open it up we’ll see the keyboard is out. It is going to be a complete disassembling to change that little jack. Luckily, it is not sorted on the board, it can be a connector so that’s the good news. So I’ll follow up with you in a bit, so you can see what we are doing over here at PC911…thanks for watching.

Hey guys, the unit is being completely taken apart as you can see where this power jack way down here. That’s the actual new one already we took out the old one here and you can see this new one way down here. Then we are going to put everything back together again. So that’s what we are doing over here today at PC911.

Putting it all back together

So you have this unit all put back together back cover. Everything looks like it’s good and then the moment of truth is when we turn it back on. Let’s see how we did over here…looks good. So that’s changing a power jack on this Dell, complicated power jack because we have taken apart the whole machine to get to it and that’s looking good. We already checked it. it’s changing up which is one of the things you want to take a look at. Make sure it charging and of course that it’s powering up.
