I want to show you a glitch on a Windows 10 upgrade that we resolved. I am getting some feedback on my videos that I am showing you what’s going on but I am going to show you the solution. So we are going to show you the solution on this one.

So what happened here this is the unit that we installed Windows 10 we upgraded from a Windows 8. We also virus proofed it so we got Linux Ubuntu on here. Everything went well but at the end about to call the customer and noticed that the power light stays on when I shut it down. I actually do that while we talk and that was not a good sign. In Linux everything was perfect. The laptop shut down all the power light went off everything is good but on this one here we ran into that glitch. So computer goes out. You see the power light goes out. You see the hard drive shutting down and it is completely out and the power light stays on. This other key here…the Wifi key stays on.

I went online did some searching. I mean tons of ways to fix this checked out the BIOS there was no BIOS update for this. Some multiple settings found the answers, one of the reasons because we are very diligent over here. I probably hate to say how much I spent on finding this answer but I know there are tons of people out there with the same problem. So here is your pro tip on resolving this issue. It’s going to take a little time but if you are having this problem it’s going to be worth your 5 minutes. So what would happen here it stays stuck it’s kind of off but not really so now I powered it off so we are going to turn this on again.

Here comes our dual boot menu. We are going to go on to our Windows 10 and I am holding with one hand and I’m going to do the fixes the other so it’s been rough but bottom line is getting the point.

You are going to look at your power options right here where your battery is. You are going to right click and go to power options right there. Over here you are going up to choose what the power does. If I can find that now you are at this menu. Notice down here it basically a feature of Windows 10 I think Windows 8 has this feature as well which is called fast start.

So kind of puts the computer not fully to sleep but not fully off. Kind of in a state where it drop right back to where it was that’s what’s keeping those lights on. But if you go here and you look at this as greyed out you really can’t get to it. You got to come up here change the settings and there is now given the option to turn that off . Unclick that sucker. Save your changes and if I’m right those lights are going to turn off.

Making this video kind of hurts because it’s something so simple so some of you out there that know the fix are going to say man I can’t believe you took so long to figure that out it was very simple. That’s simple once you know the answer. It is off actually it’s kind of bright because of the lighting here but the light is off. The power light there is off. If you look at it from here you can see that that’s off. So there’s your pro tip, thanks from watching PC911.
