Ensuring Compatability

Hey everybody, here is a quick video for you. Giving an idea of when you are putting a computer together doing a custom PC. You want to make sure all your parts are you know going to work together and make everything smooth. So what happened here is a gaming unit with a FX. This is running an FX 9590 which is a really high end processor. What was happening was the unit was getting hot. So I am to show you here this is the water cooling radiator that was installed on it. You can see it is kind of slim. Actually they are pretty standard so for any processor it would have been okay. What was happening is when we would run it under a load it was hitting about 77/78 degrees. The maximum on the processor was 80.

So it was maxing out the customer said it was actually turning off on him. So basically it was a very simple – we had to replace it. If you take a look at it this is the new radiator it’s like twice as thick. Let me see if I can put the other one next to it so you can see the difference there, so yeah putting a computer together it’s not as simple as it might seem sometimes. So it has got a double fan, it prior had a single fan so you got one fan on each side of that radiator as well and let me show you basically what’s running now. So before running 77 degrees now we are running, the highest processor is running at 45 so that’s huge.

Testing temperatures

As you can see all the first four processors are at 100%, if you want to know which software we are using here this is Coretemp you can go online and just download it it’s free and it will give you all the temperatures of all the processors. And then over here in our little utility there is a lot of them out there but basically this is a pretty simple utility StressMyPC and I have it open. If I go back enough basically I have it opened 10 times to stress the unit out so running 10 versions of StressMyPC, we are running 45 degrees nice and cool. So that’s your tip for today make sure all your parts are working together don’t have a high end processor with a low end cooling system. See you in the next video.
